I am interested in the experiences in life that cause us to lose ourselves in the moment and to discover our true nature. I wonder how often the average person feels this way, and how that experience unifies us all.  My work is also a commentary on the present situation of humanity in the world.  My art inspires the viewer to ask the questions, who am I?  What am I feeling?  What does our world look like?  How do I contribute to that?  I think that human beings have an amazing capacity to create a sustainable world where the earth and all people are treated with kindness and compassion.  We also have the capacity for arrogance and ignorance.  I am interested in transformations: a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, a person who is consistently angry finding himself in rapture, or a war-torn country becoming a place of peace and solidarity.

Working between different mediums allows me to savor my expressions as I produce similar themes many times, but with different materials.  I learn and refine who I am as an artist by observing how the nuances of my narratives change with each material.  I get more of a complete picture of the story I am telling as each medium informs my hands and heart in new ways.  Pen and ink is the medium that I find it easiest to be expressive with.  The fine lines and smooth movement I am able to get with copper etchings refines my ideas. Painting on a large canvass gives the figures in the paintings a powerful impact.  The feeling of clay in my hands provokes a primordial response in me and brings the work to life in a way I have found in no other medium.  I am planning on creating a series of books that incorporate copper etchings and writings. I would like these pieces to be the inspiration for large scale, public paintings and ceramic sculptures. I believe that the combination of these different mediums is the most effective way to articulate my stories.

I want to see the world change, and to help create change.  I express my deepest feelings and thoughts through ceramic sculpture, paintings, and drawings.  I strive to create things that people can relate to and to provide new perspectives of reality.  When I work, I feel alive; I want my art to provoke a similar feeling in others.
